Experiment 005: Plan a Dinner Party with AI

Use AI to plan around real limits, then keep the final call yourself.

AI is not only useful for work, coding, or giant projects. Sometimes the most useful experiment is figuring out how to feed six people without turning your grocery budget into a small emergency.

This lab uses a fictional dinner party to show how AI can help with an everyday problem that has real limits: dietary needs, a small pantry, a tight budget, and several people who all need something they can eat.

Lesson objective

By the end of this experiment, you will be able to give an AI chatbot several constraints at once and ask it to:

create a practical dinner plan from a pantry and a budget

respect dietary restrictions and preferences without guessing on safety

produce a shopping list, prep timeline, and optional add-ons

survive a second round of questions that challenge the first answer

You will also practice keeping judgment where it belongs: with you.

Lab notes

  • Difficulty: Beginner
  • Time: 25–35 minutes
  • Tools needed: Any general-purpose AI chatbot (file upload helps; paste works)
  • Practice file: Dinner Party Scenario (Experiment 005)
  • Main idea: AI can help create useful everyday plans when you clearly explain the people, resources, limits, and desired result.
  • Privacy reminder: Use fictional names or anonymous guest labels. Never share private medical records or identifying information.
  • Accuracy reminder: Verify allergies, ingredients, prices, cooking temperatures, and food-safety advice.
  • Budget reminder: AI-generated prices are estimates. Check current local prices before shopping.
